After presenting a very creative and highly sculptural Spring-Summer 2017 collection, during Fashion Preview #6 last October, Helmer was back on the Agora Hydro-Quebec runway with his Fall-Winter 2017-2018 collection. The designs that he presented address strictly a male clientele and his inspiration from the Zazou movement was obvious and boldly stated. The extra long sleeves, the extra large jackets, the use of stripped or patterned fabrics all followed the noncomformist style of the 1940’s zazous.

When it comes to Joseph Helmer’s creations, it’s not only his talent that speaks, but also his vast training (at institutions such as LaSalle College, ESMOD or l’école de la Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture Parisienne), and his 20 years of work for some of the biggest Haute Couture and Prêt-à-Porter names in Paris. Back in Quebec, Helmer quickly made a name for himself in Montreal, with his collections trotting down the runways of fashion shows such as Fashion Week, Festival Mode et Design or Fashion Preview. In addition, his creations were featured in several exhibitions, thanks to his highly artistic designs, skilled embroidery and patchwork and the use of unconventional materials (such as flowers, chocolate, glass or even toilet paper).
