03 Jun Runway Show Gala Émergence 2017 – École des métiers des Faubourgs de Montréal

Last month the Institut Supérieur Mode-Beauté (Superior Institute Fashion-Beauty) of the École des métiers des Faubourgs (the biggest professional training centre in the Montreal region) hosted their Gala Émergence 2017, a beautiful runway show celebrating the talent of their fashion, aesthetics and hair-styling students. TrendsConnection was, of course, there, eager to discover some new designs and interesting creative visions.

As the guests were entering the amphitheatre where the runway show was about to take place, they were welcomed by a series of beautiful songs performed by Faubourgs students. And then, lights dimmed and the show began. Under the theme “Tutti Frutti” taking over the stage were a series of playful outfits in fresh, pastel, colours. What followed was a series of 15 other themed presentations showcasing designs for both men and women which varied from youthful to more mature and even creative looks and from streetwear to very elegant evening attire. Each theme (or tableau) was a mini-show in itself, each with its own creative direction and different source of inspiration, such as Expo 67 and the fashion of the time, or the four seasons, which inspired four very beautiful bridal looks. The designs also took us to different corners of the world, from the Orient, to the Andes and even to Africa. For a few moments, we even found ourselves in a fantasy world, with models embodying colourful wind-up dolls brought to life by a crazy puppet master . Ending the show was a tribal dance and a series of african tribal looks with authentic makeup and highly elaborate hairdos and headdresses.
