17 Mai Fondation de la Mode de Montréal – 28th Benefit Evening
On May 8th 2017 the Fondation de la Mode de Montréal hosted their 28th benefit evening, a gala which reunited at Montreal Olympic Park some of the most important players in the local fashion industry: from designers to models, to media, to personalities in the business and commerce of fashion, etc. It was a beautiful ceremony and show, and a wonderful celebration of local talent, with $111,000 being awarded as scholarships and internships.
.
The evening started off with a cocktail, which was a great occasion for guests to mingle while admiring creations by local designers such as Daniel Beaudet, Noemiah, Melissa Nepton, Denis Gagnon etc., showcased by beautiful models. Joncas and their fiery red creations were also present and were doing a live demonstration of talent, by sewing two elegant dresses, all within the span of not more than an hour.
.
As the evening continued, guests took their seats at the round tables and, as everyone was enjoying the dinner, lights dimmed and the show began. After a big representation the night before from the Fashion Design graduates from LaSalle College, the Olympic Park runway hosted once again some of the best designs featured in the Signature 2017 show. Another creative highlight of the evening was the artistic show presented by Groupe Sensation Mode, which transported the guests in an alternate world full of colour, through a beautiful dance performance and vibrant projections.
.
As the goal of the Fondation is “To help tomorrow’s stars take their place”, several scholarships and and internships were awarded to the most promising young talents from various fashion schools in Quebec, a ceremony which was followed by a speech from the guest of honor, Mr. André Télio, president of TELIO. This year’s 13 bursary recipients are:
