ESM 2017 – Runway Show & Exhibition

After at Fashion Preview last month he had seen a sample of the designs by the ESM-UQAM graduating students, last week we had the opportunity to attend the runway show and exhibition of the 122 fashion management and design graduates. The projects presented at the event – 25 projects in industrial management and fashion marketing and 19 fashion design collections – were the culmination of 3 years of study and a few months of hard work in bringing the ideas to life. The event, presented by UQAM’s École supérieure de mode in collaboration with Dynamite, was a beautiful celebration, a showcase of talent, creativity and skills, and a great networking opportunity.

As you walked into the showroom, you were greeted by groups of students, each group with their own carefully decorated booth, presenting their project in management and fashion marketing. And the room was packed with fresh and amazing ideas: from a company which caters to the clothing needs of those who are physically impaired (Estime, winner of the…prize), to a coworking space specifically dedicated to content creators (Blog Spot MTL) to a company which offers shoes with removable heels (Nolat), to apps destined to help with shopping, a line of argan oil cosmetics and so on. The presentation of the projects was quite elaborate: with beautifully designed websites, professional branding and high quality marketing materials, such as brochures, business cards, branded gear, and so on. We invite you to get in the mood of the evening and see some of the teams, their interesting projects and beautiful displays in the photos below.

The runway show that followed presented to us the 19 collection put together by the Fashion Styling and Design graduates. Trotting down the runway was a rich display of creative visions and design skills, a mix of highly artistic garments and wearable pieces. Bursts of fiery red, alternated by pastels, blacks and all white organza dresses, were a showcase of each of the designers’ aesthetics, and allowed us to discover upcoming fashion trends. And of course, talent doesn’t go unrewarded: at the end of the runway show, a series of prizes were awarded to the students with the most interesting designs and projects. We invite you to see all the designs in the photos below (click on the images to enlarge):

And the awards go to…
